Nursing Careers (UC “d” or “g”)

This course prepares students to work in hospitals, skilled nursing facilities (SNF), hospice, assisted living facilities and other related health settings. In addition to employability and professionalism, this course will include: medical terminology, medical/surgical asepsis, health and disease, anatomy and physiology, assessment and diagnosis, patient care skills and procedures, CPR certification, rehabilitative nursing, long term care and resident care, Phlebotomy, ECG and medication administration. leading into Nursing Pathway careers, students who satisfactorily complete the two semester course may qualify to obtain an SVCTE certificate of completion and be eligible to sit for the National Patient Care technician/assistant (CPCT/A), Phlebotomy Technician (CPT), and ECG Technician (CET) Certification exams.

Lorraine MezaNursing Careers Teacher |
Bio:Lorraine Meza has 20 years of experience in the medical field. She graduated with a 4.0 GPA from Concorde Career College’s Medical Assistant program and later attended Chaffey College in Southern California to study RN prerequisites before moving to Northern California to work in pain management.
Her background includes regenerative medicine and pain management surgery, where she trained in assisting with spinal epidurals, bone marrow aspirations, radiofrequency ablations, and platelet-rich plasma injections. As a lead Medical Assistant, she collaborated with doctors, RNs, X-ray technicians, and PAs in specialized treatment modalities.
Inspired by SVCTE’s mission, Meza discovered her passion for teaching and now helps students pursue careers in healthcare. She finds it incredibly rewarding to guide future medical professionals. In her free time, she enjoys roller skating, biking, and family vacations with her husband and four children.
