Bio:David Malpica joined SVCTE in 2024 to launch a new Cybersecurity program, blending his passion for technology with years of teaching and industry experience. He has taught Computer Science at Sequoia Union High School District, Oakland Unified School District, The Girls’ Middle School, and Bullis Charter School for a combined eight years. In the industry, Malpica worked as a software developer at LightUp, creating augmented reality apps like LightUp Hololab AR, and as a curriculum developer at PlayPiper. Previously, he was a 3D animator specializing in biomedical animation. While new to Cybersecurity, he brings expertise in Python and Linux, key skills in the field. Originally from Bogotá, Colombia, he completed his undergraduate degree in San Francisco. Malpica is excited to prepare students for success in a growing industry.
Why do you teach Career and Technical Education:I love teaching CTE because it gives students a purpose for being in school. They see how subjects like math and science appy to real life, making their education more meaningful. It justfies their learning and as a result, I have a highly motivated group of students. |
