Nadine GonzalesMedical Assisting Teacher |
Bio:Nadine Gonzales has more than 16 years of experience in the medical field. She graduated from Western Career College, now known as Carrington College. Her background includes specialty medicine, including fertility, Sports Medicine, pain management, and pain management surgery. Nadine trained in assisting with spinal epidurals and radio frequency ablations as well as platelet-rich plasma injections. During most of her career, she has worked in sports medicine, where Nadine was privileged to work with the San Francisco Forty Niners and San Francisco Giants team doctors. After spending some time in patient care, Nadine wanted to expand her horizons and teach college as a way of giving back all that she was taught. She taught three-and-a-half years of college before joining SVCTE. Nadine still currently works in patient care as an on-call MA at Kaiser Permanente. When Nadine isn't teaching, she enjoys spending time with her family, her two dogs, going to the beach, and helping her daughter fundraise for her foundation.
Why do you teach Career and Technical Education?I love giving back to the younger generation and watching them explore their career paths. Seeing their passion is all worthwhile, and it's rewarding to teach students eager to pursue a future in the medical field. |

Luz Maria GamboaMedical Assisting Teacher |
Bio:A graduate of SVAE’s Adult Medical Assisting program in 2008, Luz Gamboa brings extensive healthcare and teaching experience to the classroom. After completing her training, she worked as a caregiver before spending 13 years at Samaritan Urgent Care, where she strengthened her skills in patient care and medical assisting. Alongside her healthcare career, Gamboa supported students as a teaching assistant and Medical Assisting Lab Technician at De Anza College and SVAE. She also teaches Medical Terminology with ESL Support to adult learners at SVAE. Today, Gamboa draws on her experience as a caregiver, medical assistant, and educator to prepare students for success in healthcare and beyond. She is passionate about providing the guidance and encouragement she wished she had early in her own career journey, helping students build confidence, develop professional skills, and recognize that their goals are within reach through hard work and determination.
Why do you teach Career and Technical Education?When I was my students' age, I didn’t have a mentor or teacher to guide me in my career. It’s incredibly rewarding when students return and share that my class inspired their career path. I also love supporting them through letters of recommendation, which have positively impacted their college acceptances.
