Meet Yusif Bahlool, 2024 Mechatronics Engineering alumni. Bahlool made waves in summer 2025 at the Cal Poly San Luis Obispo Artificial Intelligence Summer Camp 2025—his team placed 4th out of 14. His team tackled a real-world problem: matching students with the right safety trainings. Their solution: rebuild Cal Poly's course registration system and integrate an AI model (via AWS Bedrock) to automate recommendations. Next, he's refining the system for other universities or corporate training. "I sharpened my technical skills while also learning the value of clear communication and collaboration under tight deadlines," Bahlool shared. He is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering at San Jose State University, and expects to graduate in May 2027.

Meet Marissa Buschmann, 2024 SVCTE Culinary Arts alumni. Buschmann is pursuing her Associate of Science degree at Mission College in Baking and Pastry. In Summer 2025 summer she worked at a food truck during the Mission College Summer Series as part of a work experience class.

Meet Alejandro Jacinto, 2024 SVCTE Culinary Arts alumni. Jacinto is pursuing his Associate of Science degree at Mission College in Culinary and Hospitality. In Summer 2025 he worked at a food truck alongside Buschmann during the Mission College Summer Series.
